Who this covers

This policy is about EDICLOCK, the clock app published by EDIFORCE Inc. for iOS and Android, and about the EDICLOCK pages on this website. Our company-wide privacy policy also applies, but it covers all of our services: information described there for another service is not collected by this app, and for EDICLOCK this page is the one that describes what actually happens.

Three situations are kept apart on purpose, because they are not the same: using the app, choosing to email us, and opening this website.

Looking for help with the app? See EDICLOCK Support.

1. Using the app

EDICLOCK has no account and no sign-in. It carries no advertising, no analytics tool, no advertising or tracking identifier, and no crash or usage reporting, and in this version no purchases or subscriptions. It has no feature that sends information about you or your device to us.

Settings, kept in the app's own storage

The app saves one small settings entry: the mode you chose (ALL or TIME OF DAY), the display mode for portrait and for landscape, whether you want the pulse sound, whether you chose the still display, and whether you want the screen kept awake. That is all it saves. It is held in the app's own storage area on your device, we do not receive it, and removing the app removes it from the device.

Whether app data is also included in your operating system's backup and device-transfer features — Android's backup service, an iCloud or computer backup on iOS — is decided by those OS settings, not by the app. If they are switched on, this settings entry may be included in such a copy, which is then handled by the platform provider under its own policy. We do not receive it in either case.

Read from your device while drawing

To draw the clock the app reads the current time, your device's time zone, the display language (only to write the zone's short name, such as JST or EDT) and the system "reduce motion" setting. The app uses these while drawing and does not store or send them. No location permission is used or requested; the time zone comes from your device's own setting, not from your position.

The films are in the app

All of the films, their still frames and the two typefaces are inside the app package. Playback needs no connection: the app starts and plays normally in airplane mode.

What we checked

EDICLOCK's own code contains no request to any external server, and we measured the app's network traffic on a real device to confirm that it behaves that way. The conditions and the results of those tests are kept as internal records: they describe the builds, devices and situations we tested, so please read them as what we verified rather than as a promise about every device in every state.

The operating system's own components

The app's screen is drawn by the operating system's web view component, which runs inside the app's process. A component like that may communicate with the platform provider on its own account — to fetch its own configuration, or for the platform's safe-browsing protection — and the operating system may attribute part of that traffic to the app. We do not ask for it, we receive nothing from it, and it is governed by the platform provider's privacy policy rather than ours. We have not switched those protections off.

On Android, the system WebView also reports usage and diagnostic data to its provider when the device owner has agreed to that device-wide. EDICLOCK needs none of it, so the app declares the WebView metrics opt-out (android.webkit.WebView.MetricsOptOut): according to Android's own documentation, that keeps this app's WebView usage out of those reports. The device-wide "Usage & diagnostics" setting stays yours; the app does not read or change it. Safe browsing is a safety feature and is deliberately left alone, and the WebView may still fetch its own configuration. We observed this platform behaviour on Android while testing. We have not verified the equivalent behaviour on iOS and do not claim it is the same. In either case we cannot describe what those messages contain beyond what the platform provider documents, and none of them reach us.

Permissions and bundled components

On Android the app declares only the INTERNET permission, which the app framework adds by default and which the app's own code does not use. On iOS it declares no permission at all. Nothing uses the camera, microphone, photo library, location, contacts, or a device identifier.

The bundled third-party components are the app framework and its plugins, the interface library and the two typefaces. They are there to display the clock; none of them is an advertising, analytics or attribution component, and the privacy manifests supplied with the frameworks declare no collected data and no tracking. The full list with licences is inside the app, under ABOUT → Licenses.

What we declare in the stores

Consistent with the above, we declare in both stores that this app collects no data. We check that declaration against the app being released, the components it includes and each store's own definitions before a submission; if the app ever starts collecting something, the declaration and this page change with it.

Future features

This version has no purchases, no subscriptions and no downloadable additional content. If any of that is introduced, this page is updated before the feature ships — we do not describe features that do not exist yet.

2. If you choose to email us

Support is by email, and only if you start it. When you write to contact@ediforce.co.jp we receive your email address, whatever you write, and whatever you attach — which may include the device name, the OS version, the app version and screenshots, if you choose to send them.

Please send only what is needed to understand the problem. The app has no "send report" function: nothing is gathered or sent to us unless you write it in an email yourself.

3. Opening this website

These pages are ordinary web pages, so opening them is not the same as using the app.

"The app has no feature that sends your information to us" and "nothing is recorded anywhere" are different statements. The first is about the app; the second is not true of the web, and this section is here to say so plainly.

4. Children

EDICLOCK is not directed at children. The app has no sign-up and no feature that sends information about you to us, so we receive nothing about a child through the app itself. If a child writes to us, section 2 applies to that message, and a parent or guardian may ask us to delete it at the address below. The content rating shown in each store is set separately, through that store's own questionnaire.

5. Changes to this policy

We revise this page when the app changes or the law requires it. The effective date at the top is the date this policy took effect; the revision date next to it changes only when we change what this policy says — not when the app or the website is rebuilt. Material changes are announced on this website.
